Page 6 ■ Auburn Hills Review Treasurer’s Department & Clerk’s Office allow enough time for the post office to deliver your payments by the due date. DO NOT COMBINE water payments and tax payments on one check. Should we receive both payments on one check, the payment will be returned to you. Penalties/late fees will apply after the due date. All checks MUST have name, address, check number and signature on them to be an acceptable form of payment. If this information is not on the check, it will be returned and late fees/ penalties will apply after the due date. If you choose to use your own online banking payment system, DO NOT use your utility account number to pay taxes or other invoices. Payments sent to us with utility account numbers are automatically imported into the utility payment system and will not be removed. Payments may be made using the drop boxes located at the north entrance to City Hall Administration Building at 1827 N. Squirrel. Payments must be received in the drop box before the start of the next business day to be included in the business transactions for the prior day. ALL water bills are due on the 15th of each month. Any utility payments made after the 15th will have a 10% late fee applied. Returned Checks: If a check is not honored by your bank/financial institution and is returned to the City, we will attempt to redeposit the check once. Should the check be returned a second time, we will remove the payment from the customer’s account in addition to assessing a $35.00 Non-Sufficient Funds fee. Late fees/penalties will apply after the due date. ■ clerk’s Corner By Terri Kowal City Clerk Every once in a while, when discussing my career choice, people will ask, “Just what does a Clerk do?” Clerks are perceived as those who assist you in the checkout line at the grocery, so people are often surprised to hear about the responsibilities of a Municipal Clerk. Actually, there is a similarity, besides our titles, in that both serve the public! City Clerk Terri Kowal [email protected] 1827 N.
