Opportunity 2014 Melksham
More than just a Jobs Fair
Taking place on Saturday 15th March 2014, Opportunity Melksham will be so much
more than just a jobs fair. With keynote speakers from the worlds of industry,
commerce and politics we will be exploring the opportunities for those seeking to find
work, and those seeking to find workers.
We welcome partners to join us in making Opportunity Melksham a success. We are
keen to work with local, regional and national based businesses across the
commercial sector; with banks, charities and institutions; with schools, colleges and
universities; with employment agencies, recruitment agencies and with innovators and
entrepreneurs.
We are actively seeking more stallholders as well as speakers, presenters, motivators
and panellists.
For details on how you can get involved, please contact event
manager Phil McMullen via email: [email protected]
From Our Young Correspondent
Now this month I thought you might take pleasure in a little story of mine, about the
day I went on an adventure to London to watch a Taylor Swift concert.
It was February 4th, on a cold and rainy day. Myself and 4 of my friends had got
tickets for Taylor Swift's famous Red tour and made a detailed plan of how we would
get around for the evening and make it back in time for some sleep before school.! It
felt like a real adventure as we all chatted whilst sitting on the train, imaging what the
evening would be like. We were all very aware of the tube strike which would be taking
place that day but had checked all over the internet and found our tube line would
luckily not be affect. Or so we thought.
We arrived in London and first got a delicious McDonalds. Afterwards we got our
tickets for the tube, which is when we were reassured again that our tube line would
not be affected by the strike. However after a cramped and claustrophobic journey on
the tube, we arrived at the O2 arena where there was a notice to warn those at the
concert about the strike. We went in thinking nothing of it, brought our Taylor Swift tshirts and had an amazing time! The Vamps were her support act and her surprise
guest for the evening was Danny O'Donoghue from the Script!
As we came out of the concert we suddenly saw the large crowds of people and the
doors closed to the tube. This is when we realised we were doomed. After struggling
to try and get on the bus and failing, we finally caught a taxi to Paddington station
where my dad picked us up at 2 in the morning.
It was definitely an experience at that but now I am eternally in debt to my dad for
saving us at such a ridiculous time! Hey ho, the best laid plans can go wrong!
