Carrie has designed several casting sheets to use with the oracle. You can download them from her website, http://carrieparis.com/magpie-oracle/. She often surprises us by designing a new casting sheet.
I use the charms in a variety of ways. For a daily draw, I may decide to pull three from the tin, just like I would with a card draw. I have also used them with the casting sheets and used the charms along with a Lenormand, Tarot, or Oracle card reading for extra emphasis or clarity. On one occasion during a Lenormand card reading, I randomly pulled a few charms and they matched 4 out of the 5 cards on the table. The clarity of the reading was unmistakable. During another session, the sitter pulled one which matched the outcome card, giving her more confidence in the direction she was evaluating. I am sometimes drawn to pull one charm at the end of a session and ask, “What significance might this symbol have in your life currently.” Children have wonderful imaginations, and love to choose a few charms, and make up a story around them. You will enjoy coming up with different ways to work with them.
The charms also remind me of Milagros, little miracles, or Ex-votos, offerings, small metal charms that are carried for good luck, pinned to ribbons, affixed to religious statues, or placed on alters as an offering of gratitude or a petition. You can select one to carry or wear for the day, such as the Sun for a day of illumination. My personal charm in life has been the shamrock or Clover in Lenormand speak. On a day that I would like a wee bit of luck, I have threaded the Magpie clover charm through a chain or ribbon to wear before I left the house. Couldn’t we all use a little extra luck some days!
