We spend a third of our life asleep. If we live until we are sixty years old, we have spent twenty years sleeping and dreaming. One way to make the most of this time is to keep a dream diary, and to have our dreams interpreted by a specialist. I am often asked ‘Can we interpret our own dreams?’ Because dreams originate in the unconscious area of the mind, what is unconscious for one person will be conscious for another. For this reason, even experienced dream interpreters ask someone else to interpret their dreams. The more we consider the meanings that underlie our dreams the more we understand the elements of our unconscious mind, thereby becoming more aware of our motivations, prejudices and strengths.
Dear Wendy,
I am in a forest and a pond is stretched out in front of me. The air is cool and moist. The forest is enchanting, and stillness wraps around me. I feel at peace yet awake. I admire the crystal like quality of the pond and notice its majestic beauty. I notice the earth beneath my feet and feel happy to stand there. Suddenly, the pond starts to turn a dirty color around the edges, and mud and dirt became littered into the once beautifully clear pond. I felt sad. Just then, what I think is a lightening bug flies down from a tree and starts buzzing around my head. I start to feel annoyed, and remember saying "stop" in the dream. I then hear a voice say " tell them, tell them we are real". I ask " tell them who is real?" and a little voice replies "The nature spirits, we are real"! I then look and see an majestic, colorful angel with huge wings hovering over the pond, and repeated these words to me. Then the pond starts to change back into its crystal blue color. B
