Years before I began the Steele Wizard tarot, I illustrated a book titled 'The Book of Stones and Metals' by Maya Heath. In the book was a section titled 'The Cup of Loving' and the drawing for that part featured a near identical rendition of a couple holding up a cup. As I was drawing the picture I thought it would make a great Lovers card. Turns out, when time came to draw the Lovers, that was the image that presented itself, with slight variations and in color. It represents the Cup of Life of course. The swirling background is the unrealized manifestation of the couple's union. She gazes at the cup absorbed in the possibilities as he gazes at her who will produce those possibilities. Together they join to uphold the dreams and ambitions of two people at one with their goals and dreams.
