Tarot Birth Cards

By Bonnie Cehovet, CTGM

The images within the Tarot are a wonderful tool of empowerment. They can be put to use in many different ways, one of which is as Birth Cards. I work with the dual Birth Card system developed by Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone of The Tarot School. In this system the Birth Cards are defined by adding up the Seeker’s birth numbers (month, day, and year), until the resulting number is 21 or less. Twelve Birth Card pairs are defined – eleven pairs that contain two Birth Cards, and one pair (Sun/Wheel of Fortune/Magician) containing three Birth Cards. Each Birth Card pair acts as a gateway into a given lifetime, and defines the theme for that lifetime.

For those that are interested, Karyn Easton has a Birth Card calculator here -

So … what can we do with these little Birth Card people? Listen to them, for starters. Allow them to tell us how they are functioning in our life, at any given time and in any given situation. BTW – it is not a yes or no on that functioning stuff. Remember, the denizens of the Tarot have 360 degrees of interpretation … each! There are four basic ways in which Birth Cards function – in a positive manner, in a negative manner, blocked (where the Seeker acknowledges them, but fights against the energy), or latent (the energy is there, but the Seeker is yet to recognize it).

One very simple technique to use is to take the Seeker’s Birth Cards from a deck that is not being used for the reading, and place them above the spread being used for the reading. In this way, the reading can be interpreted through the eyes of the Birth Cards. No, don’t try to make this happen … just allow it to flow! Once the reading starts, you will find that you are seeing/interpreting things in a different manner. The Seeker will also, since their Birth Cards represent not only who they are in the present, but who they have always been, and always will be.

If you are reading on Skype, hold the cards up so the Seeker can see them. If you are reading by e-mail, send your client a scan of the cars in their reading, showing their Birth Cards at the top of the scan. If you send a CD of your readings to your clients, include a scan of their Birth Cards on the CD.

Many ways to go with this … above all, have fun!
