My Philosophy of God
Makara LookingHawk
As it harm none, do as thy will. These are the words to live by in my religion. Basically it says do what you want as long as you don’t hurt anyone in the process. I follow a nature based religion. Some people call me a witch, some a Druid, some a Native American, I call myself a Pagan. I follow a path designed by nature. The moon phases, sun path, seasons and equinoxes are sacred to me. To me “God” or the divine is found all around me, in nature. These are things to be celebrated.
I do not believe in hell or sins. I believe that humankind creates its own evil. This is handled through Karmic Law and the lessons of Reincarnation. I believe you are born to the parents you choose. You live your life trying to learn the lessons of Reincarnation. After each death you are reborn until all of your lessons are learned and you achieve enlightenment. Your soul then moves on to the Summerland to spend eternity in bliss. The souls you encounter along your journey are the same in every life. EX: All of your friends and loved ones have been with you in all of your previous lives as different people.
I believe in a God and a Goddess. They both have many forms and many names but are basically all different aspects or faces of the same God and Goddess. We celebrate eight holidays and every full moon. Our new year begins on November 1st.
Our holidays include:
Samhain: October 31s
Beltane: May 1st
Yule: December 21st
Litha: June 21st
Imbolc: February 2nd
Lughnasadh: July 31st
Ostara: March 21st
Mabon: September 21st
Our spiritual leaders are called many things including; High Priestess, High Priest, Priestess, Priest, Cleric, Shaman and Reverend. Some people like to be addressed as Sister or Brother. Those in training are often called Acolyte. The Pagan community is matriarchal. Women are celebrated as the givers of life. Woman of all shapes and sizes are recognized as beautiful. They are healers and leaders in the Pagan community. They are regarded as the Goddess incarnate, and mother. Men are considered consorts of the goddess. Men can also hold any position in the community. They are regarded as the God incarnate and father. Sex is an expression of unity between the God and Goddess. It is a symbol of fertility. Safe sex is celebrated and not something to be ashamed of.
