Life’s A Beach!

Just what does that mean? Most think it means fun days with friends, not working hard, enjoying life, and everything being peachy and sunny.

Well, here is another view. What if that beach is simply a metaphor for life itself? Your life! You start out as a rock, a solid foundation, a force of strength. Then, BOOM! Something happens in your life that reduces your rock to several large boulders. You make do and work your way through the difficult times. Then, again---BAM! Now your boulders are a scattered pile of stones.

Somehow you still find the strength to adjust. Life is harder, but you know you are capable of making the best of it, and you sincerely believe life will once again improve.

Just as you are adapting to your new life circumstances, another crushing disaster occurs that reduces your stones to gravel. Now you are little pieces of the rock you once were. You will never be that strong, solid rock again. You can never piece those little crumbles of stone back into something more substantial. Every day that passes brings less and less hope, as you are further crushed into grains of sand and tiny pebbles. You hold onto the slight, but nearly impossible hope that one day, you may be gathered up and mixed into a vat of cement and once again become someone of strength—someone large enough to survive.

So, here you are—little peas of gravel on the shore—being constantly crushed into sand—washed in and out with the tides. Now your life is a matter of survival. Will you spend your life on that beach, flowing with the waves, or will you be washed out to sea and forever lost? Yes, life is a beach. Some enjoy the refreshing swim, and some drown trying to grab hold of the lifeline that is just beyond their reach.
