I came home with candy canes. That was it … candy canes. No incredibly beautiful candle. No little crèche. It was candy canes. I was standing in my kitchen, wondering what to put the candy canes in. I ended up putting two different types of candy canes in two wine glasses, and that was basically my Christmas decorations. And they were gorgeous!

Looking at issues from different perspectives is another aid to being creative. One of the ways that I do this right now is by playing with the Bit Strips app on Facebook. You go in, create a persona, then place that persona in different scenarios that the Bit Strip app provides each day. You can do it with just your own character, or you can add other characters. You can work off of the tagline they provide, or write in your own tagline. You can add commentary, and change the body position and facial expression of your characters. I find myself saying things that I never thought I would say!

I do a lot of promoting for books, decks, and apps (primarily in the Tarot world). I agreed to help a friend, Toni Gilbert (who is an incredibly creative lady!) promote her latest project – a workshop entitled “Northwest Astrology & Tarot Salon”. The workshop will take place in Breitenbush Hot Springs in November of 2014. Before I know it, I have agreed to attend the conference. I ask my sister to go with me, because I am a little nervous attending events like this alone. (Yes, I still say this, after having attended several of the Readers Studio conferences!) My sister agrees to go with me. I send her to Toni’s site, where the event information is posted. I get an e-mail back from my sister, asking me to please get a cabin with a bathroom. Whoa! There are cabins there without bathrooms? I scurry over to read the fine print … I knew Breitenbush Hot Springs was secluded, but it really is SECLUDED! We bring our own pillows and bedding. No cell phone or Internet service. I am truly pale by this point! The pro’s for this venue are astronomical, but the over-riding con is that I am a city girl! This is so far beyond my comfort zone that it is ridiculous! I am going … and I am looking forward to it. I will be meeting people that I only know over the Internet, and I will be spending time away from the Internet, which probably is a good thing. Will this be a creative time for me? No doubt it will be!
