Here is your random moment of trivia. Do you know what movie this song was based on? No? Think cold. Think Lara. Think…Dr. Zhivago. That’s right. That insane movie about a man in love with two women. There’s a quote that goes something like this:

American love stories are where boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl get married and live happily everafter. French love stories are where boy meets girl, girl hates boy, boy and girl get married anyway. Russian love stories are where boy meets girl then spends 800 pages pining for her after she leaves him for another man. (highly paraphrased)

Love. It makes for great stories. And it makes for one of the most common consultation requests that I get. Does s/he love me? s/he the one? Am I ever going to find love? Is s/he going to come back to me? Is s/he going to leave the other to be with me? So many variations on our very human struggle with loneliness.

Then there are those who aren’t so much worried about lack as they are with too many. Sometimes, there is the question of “which one” which happens when you find yourself in a surplus situation. Those of us who are inclined to monogamy find this to be uncomfortable at best. Those in polyamorous relationships can also use this spread to see how another partner might be added. I read for monogamous as well as poly-family folk so I like my relationship spreads to be expandable.
