ATS1340 ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES WORKBOOK 1 Issue 3 | Page 6
Each module consists of Preparation + Lecture + Tutorial. As it is entirely online, again, each
student will navigate the program slightly differently, especially in terms of the the time spent on
task.
Successful learning in the unit will, of course, be linked to how much time each students dedicates
to his/her study. Based on experience, I would suggest approximately 6 hours per module is
appropriate (preparation readings/quizzes +viewing and absorbing the lecture content +
completing the tutorial tasks + any follow up quizzes).
Sub-total: 48 hours
Estimated time for each assessment task is a follows:
TASK 1: Research/preparation -- Drafting -- Editing/submission (10 hours)
TASK 2: Research/preparation -- Drafting -- Editing/submission (24 hours)
TASK 3: Research/preparation -- Drafting -- Editing/submission (4 hours)
TASK 4: Preparation (revise course content) -- Exam (online quiz) (12 hours)
Sub-total: 50 hours
(TOTAL ESTIMATED: 98 hours)
Please note this estimate is a minimum projection based on the lecturer's experience in teaching
the unit for several years.
