ATS1340 ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES WORKBOOK 1 Issue 3 | Page 5
1. Complete the preparatory readings and viewing tasks; take the introductory language quiz (not
graded for final results) and assess your technical competency in English. Based on the results,
you can spend more time, if needed, upgrading your awareness of the technical elements of
English, especially your knowledge of English's meta-language (parts of speech/parts of a
sentence).
2. In a module, (there are 8 overall), if there is a introductory/revision quiz, make sure you
complete these tasks so as to reinforce your understanding of the program's content. They are not
compulsory; they are, however, very helpful.
3. There are two Workbooks that contain all the program's materials (lectures/tutorials). I strongly
suggest you download these as PDFs and you print and bind these Workbooks. Having the hard
copy versions at hand will be absolutely critical to completing the tutorials effectively. Also, the
exam questions will all be drawn from the Workbooks
