Conclusion
Massage therapy is well-known for its contribution to pain relief , stress , anxiety and general wellbeing and it is likely that it will be increasingly called on to help manage and treat people with mental health illnesses and to prevent their occurrence . More high quality research is needed to support this important role in healthcare . This will involve overcoming methodological challenges that often accompany massage therapy research . Our aspiration to always place our clients at the centre of our clinical practices involves making collaborative decisions about healthcare with clients . These decisions need to be informed by the best available evidence and the expertise of the massage therapist if we are to ensure the best health outcomes for clients .
