Carole Bryant
What has kept you practising for 30 + years ? I love what I do and can ’ t imagine not practising . In my practice I work with both people and animals and love to see my clients become empowered by taking control of their health and seeing animals becoming happy and well .
What have been the most important changes to natural medicine you have seen during your career ? The best thing is seeing the use of herbs etc with a long history of empirical use being validated by current research . It ’ s also good to see modalities that take care of both our physical and spiritual / energetic wellbeing becoming more prominent and accepted .
How do you envisage natural medicine developing over the next 30 years ? Unfortunately , I see a trend towards an orthodox “ scientific ” medicine model and a move away from the traditional holistic naturopathic approach to restoring health . I hope our profession retains its historical roots while adopting the best of new knowledge and modalities . For me that would be the best outcome .
What advice do you have for today ’ s emerging practitioners ? Remember that natural medicine is founded on an holistic approach . Traditional naturopathic principals of healthy diet , clean water , exercise , sunlight , adequate sleep , and mental wellness together with the best of current and traditional remedies are the foundation of our profession . And always remember that we are spiritual beings on a physical journey , so we also need to take care of our energetic health and wellbeing .
The photo is of myself and my German shepherd dog , Hafwen , who sadly passed away just over 12 months ago . I currently have her daughter , Indigo , who is the 9th generation of my breeding ( I have had German shepherd dogs for 45 years ). Dogs and dog training are one of my lifelong passions and I compete with my dogs in a variety of performance events as well as being both a Tracking and Endurance Test judge . Some of my other interests are walking , kayaking , swimming , art , jewellery making and cooking healthy food . I am currently learning to play my tongue drum and about to start learning classical guitar . Oh , and by the way , I plan to live to 100 or maybe even 120 .
Christine Gugiatti
What has kept you practising for 30 + years ? My passion to help motivate people to feel amazing and have the tools to take control of their health and lifestyle .
What have been the most important changes to natural medicine you have seen during your career ? The general community awareness of alternative and preventative medicine with the availability of more choices ! I remember the days when people didn ’ t even know what the word naturopath meant ! Ha !
What changes in natural medicine would you most like to see ? I would like to see traditional medicine , including native Australian remedies , becoming more mainstream and a stronger connection to using bush medicine , plants and food !
What advice do you have for today ’ s emerging practitioners ? Love what you do , practise what you preach and shine ! Patients will be attracted to you and your style because you live the life !!
Jillian Rodgers
