ATMS VACCINATION POLICY

This ATMS vaccination policy is intended to guide ATMS members in their legal and ethical public health obligations , to assist them in meeting their clinical obligations with infectious diseases .
It is the Australian Federal Government that is responsible for the vaccination programs in Australia , working with State and Territory Governments . As a professional association with its own Constitution as a guide , it is clearly not the role of ATMS to provide members with advice regarding their own decisions , whether to vaccinate , or not to vaccinate , or which of the vaccinations they choose , if any . In accordance with Australian law , all members , along with all Australians , have the liberty to make their own choices .
ATMS maintains that no member should be bullied , defamed , ostracised , or denied the right to work ( directly or indirectly ) by another member due to their vaccination status .
There may be limited circumstances in which vaccinations could be made conditional by Government public health orders , such as for individuals at high risk , workers in high-risk workplaces , or for interstate and international travel .
All ATMS members are bound by the Code of Conduct . Practitioners are advised to review this Code before making any public statements regarding interventions that are outside their own scope of practice . Members who choose to post or share material on their networks and social media regarding any vaccination rollouts should ensure that all their statements are referenced using scholarly material .
If a consumer or a member of the public believes that an ATMS member has breached their Code of Conduct , a formal complaint may be made against this member . ATMS will then follow the guidelines on processing the complaint .
