recommendations to promote the interprofessional practice agenda : 18
1 . Establish a structure and process to provide national leadership and national coordination across higher education , health , the professions and government ,
2 . Agree on an Australian statement of core common language for the development of interprofessional education curricula in Australia ,
3 . Agree on an Australian statement of core competencies and learning outcomes for interprofessional practice ,
4 . Adopt interprofessional practice / education requirements in the accreditation standards of all Australian health professions ,
5 . Adopt interprofessional practice / education in the continuing professional development ( CPD ) requirements for ongoing registration ,
6 . Develop a national approach to building curriculum and faculty capacity , knowledge and research in interprofessional education , and
7 . Develop a national approach to IPE / IPP knowledge management and information sharing and learning .
Progress has been made since 2013 when this report was first published , including the adoption of interprofessional practice / education requirements in the accreditation standards of all Australian registered health professions . However , much remains to be done to achieve all seven recommendations . To begin the process , interprofessional practice competencies could also be mandated by natural medicine associations and accrediting bodies . Programs to educate other health professionals about the contribution of natural medicine , including its contribution to complex chronic health conditions , could also be developed and promoted to enable natural medicine practitioners to take their place as legitimate members of healthcare teams .
