Golf News Golf Rules Note Many of you witnessed the two long rulings in the Solheim Cup matches. Both of them revolved around finding the point the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard. In both cases, I think the rules officials got too involved with the process. If no one is sure of the point, then the player has to make a decision and go from there. Who better to know than the player? They hit the shot and watched its entire flight. Once the player makes the decision, it’s up to their opponent(s) in match play or fellow competitor in stroke play to question the decision. In match play, a claim may be made. In stroke play, the player could play two balls and get a ruling after play. However, since it was inconclusive for rules officials and TV, the committee is going to side with the player. The margins of water hazards extend vertically up and down and a ball can cross these margins 2-3 times before settling in the hazard. Finding the last point the ball crossed the margin is crucial. A water hazard ruling is very simple once the point is determined. Junior Golf Camp – Practiacing Swing Junior Golf Even our youngest golfers enjoyed the course at Atlanta National this summer!
