Interview:
Rachel’s Story:
“I fell in love with softball straight away, though the
closest grounds were in Toowoomba an hour away,
so twice a week we would travel up to train and play
on average spending 12 hours at the grounds every
week. Then going to Brisbane for a higher standard
of competition, it made the car trips 5 hours round,
with extra journeys for state trainings. Travelling
having taken up much of my free time, I have learnt
the dedication and organization skills to portion out
my time efficiently between my studies, other sports,
friends and work. Through this is have shown my
dedication and love for the sport and my willingness
to go the extra mile. In all the various teams I have
played in, I have had to adapt in to many different
positions needed in the teams whether it be a
supporter, the person to step it up in a tight game or
a leader. From this I have found that softball is a
game of momentum and the only way to win is
through the team, this philosophy separates me from
other players as I focus all my efforts on the success
of the team.”
