OUR AWCH THANKSGIVING

The American Women’ s Club of Hamburg celebrated its annual potluck Thanksgiving at DESY on Saturday, November 23, welcoming more than 105 guests who each contributed a delicious side dish or dessert to share. Special appreciation was extended to Tracy Moede and Andrea Matchett for their exceptional dedication in leading the Heart Pillow Project and Quiltmakers, respectively. The Heart Pillow project has been providing support to breast cancer and cardiac patients for over ten years, serving over 1,000 patients at several local hospitals.
Quiltmakers started this year as an initiative to upcycle cloth into handmade baby quilts to be distributed by Hanseatic Help to new mothers in need. At the event, two of the completed baby quilts were auctioned to help fund essential supplies. Between dinner and dessert, Nancy Tilitz and members of the AWCH Songbirds led everyone in a round of several American songs. Additionally, the board announced the launch of four planning committees for the coming year— Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, the Holiday Party, and a special seventieth anniversary committee.
