Volume 6 Students Install Active Shooter Detection System July-Aug 2016 Edition Stanley continued, “As a first responder to the deadly shooting at Edgewater Technology in Wakefield in 2000, I replay that scenario with the Guardian technology in place, and count the lives it could have saved had it existed at that time. I am extremely grateful that the Town of Wakefield Police Department and Metro Tech School Administration have adopted this technology, and I am honored to present the students their Certificates of Achievement.” “We commend the Administration at Northeast Metro Tech for their commitment and forward thinking approach to school safety and vocational education,” said SDS’ CEO Christian Connors The Juniors and Seniors in Electrical Shop at the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School completed a special project this year, installing the Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection System in their school. This unique project included Ethernet Cabling, Hardware Installation and IT Setup, and taught the students about components such as infrared sensor and acoustic detection technologies. “Immediately after learning about this technology, I began talking to the Law Enforcement community about the Guardian’s ability to instantly alert building security and first responders in the case of an active shooter,” said Rick Stanley, Retired Chief of Police of both Wareham and North Andover and former NEMLEC SWAT Commander, now a Law Enforcement Consultant for SDS.
