CBP Canine Team Locates Missing Man & Child , Reunites Family

A U . S . Border Patrol canine team located a missing man and child near Pittsburg , N . H ., on Tuesday . The search operation included the Pittsburg Police Department , New Hampshire Fish and Game , Border Patrol agents assigned the Beecher Falls , Vt ., Station , and Customs and Border Protection ( CBP ) Office of Field Operations officers assigned to the Pittsburg Port of Entry . “ This rescue significantly illustrates the fine work of Border Patrol agents and Field Operations officers , the unique abilities of Border Patrol canine assets , and the collective partnerships among all North Country law enforcement agencies ,” said Paul Kuhn , Patrol Agent in Charge of the Beecher Falls Border Patrol station . “ I can think of no better outcome than helping to reunite this family , and I am proud of the collective effort by our compassionate law enforcement professionals .” A family of four was hiking south of the Second Connecticut Lake when a man and his daughter separated from his wife and another daughter . The wife flagged down a CBP officer on Route 3 near the Second Connecticut Lake at approximately 3:15 p . m . to report her 38-year-old husband and two-year-old daughter missing . They had been hiking in an unfamiliar area , became separated , and the man and daughter had been out of contact for an hour and a half . The area is very remote and covered with dense forest . There are few roads in the area , and it is reportedly easy to become lost .
