Volume 14 The software also shows an actual photograph captured by a security camera at, or close to, the specified pixels-per-foot. The photograph is not from the actual location, but it gives you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from the camera. In my opinion, this seems more useful than JVSG’s method of displaying a sample image. My wish list for the IPVM software: • Designate the different visual-acuity zones within the viewshed. • In other words, the triangle shows different colors to designate Inspection - Monitoring areas. • JVSG does this and it is very helpful when going over the design with a client. • Self-adjusting visual-acuity ranges. • If you select a 5MP camera, the ranges are appropriate for that resolution camera. • However, if you specify a 4K camera, the July 2017 Edition more restrictive ranges apply for that cam- era. • Clients will expect more detailed images from their 4K cameras. • This setting would ensure that expectation would be met. • Ability to add walls or barriers so the camera viewshed stops at natural boundaries. • If you look at the football field on the JVSG drawing you will see how this works. • Notice in the IPVM drawing how it shows the viewshed going outside the stadium. • Ability to import .PNG and .JPG images over the satellite image. • This feature would also need to support layers so you could import multiple floors of blueprints of building interiors and place them on the drawing. • Perhaps they could work with MapTiler to make this happen. • This would also be helpful if you created your own high-quality stitch with a drone. • Many times, the image provided by Google is lower resolution than you wish. This would address those instances. • Ability to group cameras into logical sets. • This is useful for helping a client budget for a phased camera roll-out. • One example would be to create the fol- lowing five groups: (1-Must Have), (2-High Priority), (3-Very Useful), (4-Low Priority), and (5-Not Needed). 27
