Young Officials As we have seen on the previous page, the Young Officials are leading the way across the country from junior games through to Under-19s T20, right up to Test nations. Early parts of the season have also seen Young Officials active at the usual corporate days, even at The Home of Cricket, with great professionalism and enthusiasm. Of the scorers, Sue Jones said: ‘It was an extremely pleasant day, not too hot, however we were blessed with wall-to-wall sunshine. Eight Young Officials scorers joined with their Young Officials umpiring colleagues, plus all the team players, for a very early breakfast in the Long Room prior to a briefing on the day’s event. ‘Everything went very smoothly and it was a great experience for all involved. I wish to record a “well done” to the Young Officials scorers for the manner in which they conducted themselves and also the way they supported each other. They did a great job and were complimented not only by the MCC marketing team who organise the event, but also by the players who were impressed with their efficiency and skills. I would also like to give a vote of thanks to the mentors, who discretely kept a watching brief in order to iron out any logistical hiccups that might occur.’ Gilad Lipschitz proudly standing at Lord’s. Great work from all the officials involved! The second half of the season sees the junior festivals starting up, with many Young Officials flying the flag at festivals all over the country. Best of luck to everyone! Matthew Moore keeping a close eye on developments. Harry Allpass and Holly Eccleston scoring at the MCC Corporate Day at Lord’s.
