Association strength
highlighted once more
in Scotland
he 2019 ABPCO Excellence
Awards and Chairmen’s
lunch took place at the
SEC in Glasgow just before
Christmas and it is safe to say that nothing
better demonstrates how the association
has gone from strength to strength over the
last few years.
Launched in London in 2014, the
first awards event was a success not just
because of the passion and energy of
ABPCO’s board and members but also its
unique format. Entries are reviewed and
shortlisted by a panel of experts until just
three finalists are identified for each of the
three categories: Best Industry Partner,
Best In-house Conference Organiser,
and Best Agency Conference Organiser.
Each finalist prepares a short presentation
highlighting the key elements of their
entry for delivery during the awards lunch,
with attendees voting on each category
throughout the meal. In addition, each
year a particular person or organisation
is picked out for the Chairmen’s Award,
recognising their industry achievements,
and ongoing adherence to ABPCO’s values.
Despite the success of previous year’s
the 2018 event was in its own right a
demonstration of the best practice and
values that ABPCO so frequently talks
about amongst its members and their
own events. The winners, the finalists, the
attendees, the organisers and local partners
can all be certain that the event has a
true legacy that will live on for so many
different reasons.
March 2019
“These awards are the jewel in the
ABPCO crown,” comments Jo Powel,
ABPCO co-chair. “It is incredible
to see so many members and friends
gather in one place and celebrate best
practice and results. In particular, I was
impressed with the way the finalists
all demonstrated significant ROI and
measurable goals for their clients.”
In-house winner, Diabetes UK’s
Therese Dolan said: “No other awards
celebrate the work and challenges faced
by PCOs. My team worked incredibly
hard to deliver this year’s event and I
am so proud to see them rewarded for
all their effort and dedication.”
Caroline Windsor from TFI Group,
who won the Best Agency award
added: “Ours is a unique part of the
wider events industry. The whole 24
hours in Glasgow was a fantastic
experience, with great networking
and plenty of opportunity to spend
time with other industry leaders. I am
thrilled to have won such an important
award for our work with The Personal
Finance Society.”
ICC Belfast’s Oonagh O’Reilly said:
“Following our conferencing brand
reposition to ICC Belfast, we’re still
growing our venue’s profile. This win,
highlighting the quality of our work, is
a real feather in our cap and testament
to everything the team has done to
support clients as well as Belfast as a
destination.”
