The Congress has grown by 60% in two years, and is a vivid illustration of the sector’s importance to the UK meetings industry. Our blue ribband convention centres certainly put association business at the top of their marketing agendas and it is the benchmark on which cities stand or fall in the ICCA rankings. In this inaugural issue of AEM we offer some of the best of the presentations from the Association Congress, including from Ann Franke, CEO of the Chartered Management Institute, who urges managers to ‘Focus on results, not activity!’ And advice from the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals’ Simon Edwards, is useful for all planners: ‘Collaborate with your members. Don’t just second-guess their needs!’ At AEM we won’t be second-guessing your needs. Tell us what they are and get involved in this exciting new project.
