all concerned. The Apostle instructs;
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on
tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering”
Col 3:12 NKJV.
In the many difficulties that arise from working together, there
will be confrontations and disputes. That is merely part of
the dynamics of spending lots of time together, fellow-ship
and leadership and our many basic differences. At other
times however, what is called for is kindness and generous
forbearance of other’s shortcomings. We must never forget
we ourselves are not perfect. Furthermore the Apostle Paul
warns us;
“But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be
consumed by one another!” Gal 5:15 NKJV.
Secondly, maintain a teachable spirit;
In this teachable mode of service, we remain willing and able
to learn. This is a quality of meekness that is wonderfully
much insight into why wise people are teachable people;
“…when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge” Prov
21:11 ESV, also: “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but he who hates reproof is stupid” Prov 12:1 ESV, also:
“Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.
Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one
another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the
humble” 1 Pet 5:5 ESV.
Finally; as I said at our National Conference this year, when
God’s people are in unity, there God commands a blessing
(Ps 133:3). We may struggle to work together, but what a
reward it is when the church in which we work experiences
the sweet joys of serving Jesus together, where our hearts
are molded not by similarity but by fresh passion for our
loving Redeemer.

exhibited in our great biblical leaders. They had an ability to
be approachable and willing to hear what others say with
a genuine desire to listen, to be interested and consider
the thoughts and views of others. Biblical wisdom contains
