Goddess Ceremony to Celebrate the
Summer Solstice
BY LISA MARIE ROSATI-GRANTHAM
H
appy Summertime my friend!
Growing up in New York, I experienced all
four seasons, and summer was my least
favorite of them all! Between the heat and
humidity, July and August was a complete
misery for me unless I was in air conditioning.
Except for enjoying the longer days, I
couldn’t imagine what my friends found so
“wonderful” about summertime…
However, as my children got older, I began
being called by palm trees and sunshine,
so when I became an empty nester in late
2016, I moved to SWFL. It’s summer year-
round down here and I love it - go figure?!
The Summer Solstice falls on June 21st and
is the mid-point of the calendar year. It is
also known as Litha in Pagan traditions, and
Midsummer in Celtic traditions. It’s the zenith
of the summer season, falling between the
joyful spring planting season and reflective
autumn harvest season.

Energetically the Summer Solstice is the
time of year to truly let loose and enjoy all the
pleasures of life. It’s a portal into the Other
Worlds, and the last chance of the calendar
year to activate sacred intentions before
The Great Wheel of the Year turns towards
autumn and the seasons of reaping and
rest. It’s also the classic night for magic of all
types. There are many customs to celebrate
Midsummer, depending on the culture. Most
light bonfires, symbolizing the victory of the
sun over the darkness, lightening them at
dusk and keeping them ablaze until sunrise
the next day.
Before creating the Goddess Lifestyle
Sisterhood, I celebrated Summer Solstice
alone as a Solitary, so I thought I’d share
my personal Summer Solstice ceremony
with you. It takes all of five minutes to
complete from start to finish, and will keep
you connected to your Inner Goddess, the
Divine Feminine, your Divinity, the Rhythm
of Nature, and the Universe!
