Josep graduated in Physical Education and Sport Sciences at INEF University in Barcelona in 1982.
Following this he was involved in developing the first tools for Biomechanical Analysis in that University
- 2D Capture, process and graphical representation and calculations. During this time he received grants
from the General Secretariat of Sport of Catalonia for the development of human performance analysis
software.
As an athlete Josep competed in Gymnastics, Football and Motocross at National Level.
He is a former athlete in Freestyle Skiing and received awards at Catalan and National level, competing in
the World Cup in 1986. He developed software for the freestyle Skiing events while competing. He has
been closely involved in Waterski Racing since1976 and has assisted with the fitness preparation of the
Waterski Racing Team and Tournament National Team. He developed software for Racing Calculation for
the World Championships of 1985 and has been responsible of calculation as Assistance or Chief of all
world events from 1999 to 2009.
Since 2004 Josep has been member of the E&A Racing Council of the International Waterski
& Wakeboard Federation.
In 1987 Josep played an instrumental role in the creation of the Olympic Training Centre, CAR Sant
Cugat. Since then he has been directing the Research, Sports Sciences and Technology Units of CAR
Sant Cugat. He has been involved in several International research and development projects being
handled during Olympics Games, FINA Championships , ITTF, ESA-NASA , IWWF, EU EXPERIMEDIA and
other international events.
His other areas of interest have been the international promotion of CAR World Wide and the creation of
an International Association of High Performance Training Centres (ASPC). The ASPC was conducted
by CAR from 2001 during the second Forum on Elite Sport. http://sportperformancecentres.org . Josep
Escoda is member of the Board of Directors of the ASPC, serving as Secretary General and has been
taking part in the Organization of all ASPC International Forum’s on Elite Sport over a 20 year period.
