Prof Rian Cloete Principles of Good Governance Rian Cloete obtained BLC and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria and the University of South Africa (UNISA) conferred the doctoral degree on him in 2001. In 2014 he obtained his Master’s degree in International Sports Law and Practice from the De Montfort University (DMU) in the United Kingdom. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1992 and joined the Department of Procedural Law at the University of Pretoria in January 1993 and is currently the Head of the Department of Procedural Law and Director of the Sports Law Centre. Rian is the Disciplinary Commissioner for Cricket South Africa (CSA) since 2008 and also serves on the Anti-Corruption Committee of CSA. He also serves as Tribunal Member of the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS), Disciplinary Commissioner for Titans Cricket and Board Member of the Institute for Sport Research (ISR). As a sports lawyer he has advised and represented most sporting bodies in South Africa.
