ASPC Update October 2024 | Page 2

From the Editor ’ s Desk
Welcome to the October 2024 edition of the ASPC Update .
The Paris Olympics & Paralympic ’ s was the culmination of years of planning and preparation . What a privilege it is to have played a role in the lives of our athletes and to have furthered the sporting aspirations of our nations . Sport truly unites us in a way that little else does .
As Leaders of our Centres we create opportunity and are the custodians of the enabling environment that makes it all possible . There is much that we do to help our athletes and their coaches , succeed but the most important role that we have is that of Leader . The ASPC is unique among sports organisations in that it provides a means for us to develop our skills as leaders of Sports Performance Centres and the International Forum on Elite Sport provides the best opportunity for this . It is a time for iron to sharpen iron and apart from the informative and engaging presentations , the connections we can make with other leaders at the Forums are invaluable .
Our thanks go to Babak and his team for an outstanding Paris Forum held in October 2023 . The lineup of speakers was world class and we left with many practical ways to become better leaders and better people .
We were reminded of the importance of our own sustainability and the vital role of being Chief Energy Officers . We also learned that a formal suit doesn ’ t need formal shoes … or maybe you need to be French to pull this off .
In this edition of the ASPC Update we highlight the upcoming Hong Kong Forum . Daniel Lee has taken over from Angela as the event organiser and he and his team have been working hard to put together an excellent program for an event that will be well worth attending .
The ASPC continues to grow , welcome to our new members , we look forward to meeting you in Hong Kong .
We would also like to welcome our new commercial partner , Sprint AI . We are excited to be collaborating with them on several planned projects that will add value to our members as we step into the brave new world of Artificial Intelligence .
Thank you to Athelte 365 for their contribution to the Update and for supporting our athletes and athlete entourages with relevant and engaging content .
We look forward to seeing you in Hong Kong .
Warm regards from Durban
