Mike English Scholarship Program
This report summarizes the outcomes of the first exchange program between the Prime Human Performance Institute and the Institute of Sports Medicine, held from 4 to 9 September 2025.
Program Overview and Engagement
• The program featured two courses: The Sports Medicine Athlete Care Course and the Comprehensive Strapping & Taping Course, attracting 63 participants.
• Feedback indicated a high satisfaction rate of 4.7 / 5, with practical activities and case discussions being particularly valued.
Mentoring and Clinical Collaboration
• Mr. Brent Grimsley provided hands-on mentoring to the physiotherapy team, enhancing clinical decision-making and introducing advanced rehabilitation strategies.
Key Feedback and Recommendations
• Suggestions included extending the Athlete Care course to two days for more practical sessions and offering follow-up labs for the Taping & Strapping course.
• Participants requested clearer course targeting and additional evidence-based practice segments.
Costs and Conclusion
• The total cost of the exchange was € 5,221.29.
• The program successfully delivered practical training and mentoring, with recommendations for future improvements to maximize impact on Mauritius’ sports medicine workforce.
Attached are two comprehensive reports from Dr Adisha Bholah( Mauritius) & Mr Brent Grimsley( Prime) and a second report from Mondli Linda of Prime.
To date more than 50 % of the budget has been spent and the first payment of 30 %(€ 3000) has been paid over, as per the contract, to Prime Human Performance Institute. This is in line with the revised programme that was agreed to with the late start to the contract.
