Welcome to the November 2025 edition of the ASPC Update.
From the Editor’ s Desk
What a great job Simo and his team did in Helsinki!
The XIV International Forum on Elite Sport continued to raise the, already high, bar on what a ASPC Forum should encompass: Leading international speakers, excellent networking opportunities, warm hospitality and seamless efficiency, with a few local experiences thrown in- some of us from warmer climates had the opportunity of experiencing our first ice hockey game in Helsinki!
We have had three International Forum’ s in three successive years and this has helped us to achieve more together. I encourage you to attend your Continental Forum’ s to be held in Rio Major( Europe), Guatemala City( Americas) and Swakopmund( Africa) next year to keep up the momentum, adverts to these Forums can be found in this edition.
Thank you to our contributors for useful content ranging from joint projects that ASPC Members have been running across the globe, to the recently launched Milano Cortina Get Ready Pack for Athletes. Our thanks to Gloria, Pavla and Sibine for joining us in person in Helsinki and for their content in this magazine as well as to the IOC and Eleiko for the use of their images.
Our thanks and appreciation to outgoing ASPC President Tapio Korjus for his leadership over the past 5 years and to incoming President Dr Harry Bähr who has been voted in to serve us going forward, the future of the ASPC is in good hands.
Thank you Gary Davies( CEO of the Canadian Sports Institute Alberta) for your article on the Helsiki Forum. I was fortunate to have discovered that Gary Davies writes excellent blogs on LinkedIn and asked him to share his perspectives on the Forum with us. You can follow Gary’ s LinkedIn account here: https:// www. linkedin. com / in / gary-davies-24692a2 /
On the flight back to Durban we listened to an enlightening podcast on How to Build a Culture of Appreciation at Work, it is well worth a listen, look out for it on the Leadership Page.
We are grateful to our Partners Sprint AI and Eleiko for their collaboration and ongoing support and look forward to working with them more in the Future.
