Olympic Solidarity supports NOCs and their athletes every step of the way
Enshrined in Rule 5 of the Olympic Charter , the mission of Olympic Solidarity is to provide assistance to NOCs , in particular those with the greatest need . It is fulfilled through a set of multi-faceted programmes designed to help NOCs develop their athletes , coaches and administrators , while also encouraging the promotion of the Olympic principles and values . Together , the programmes and their outcomes contribute to the IOC ’ s mission of building a better world through sport .
Athlete Career Transition Course in Sport Ethics and Integrity ( ACTSI )
Following on from the world leading MAiSI and DAiSI programmes , a new educational short course is being offered by KU Leuven in collaboration with IOC Solidarity , for Olympians who want to know more about ethics and integrity policies and practices in sport : ACTSI , the Athlete Career Transition Course in Sport Ethics and Integrity . The course focuses on : Anti-doping ; Equality , inclusion diversity ; Good governance ; Safe Sport ; and Sport Integrity . On successful completion of the course , students will receive a certificate of attendance from one of the oldest universities in the world : KU Leuven . The course is organized by prof . M . J . McNamee and prof . T . Könecke .
Upon request by the respective NOC , Olympic Solidarity covers the tuition fees , accommodation , travel fees and board for the entire duration of the studies for the selected candidates worldwide . For athletes , being surrounded by the right people can play a huge part in a successful sports career . This is the raison-d ’ être of Olympic Solidarity ’ s Entourage programmes which are accessible to athletes ’ entourage , including coaches . Through their NOC , coaches can attend Technical Courses and Olympic Scholarships . Under the Entourage banner , Olympic Solidarity also supports athletes off the field of play , with programmes such as the Athletes ’ Commission Support aiming at empowering athletes and amplifying their voices in the governance of sports organisations , or the Athlete Career Transition which assist them transitioning to successful post-sport careers .
