ASPC Update February 2020 | Page 4

The XI ASPC Forum on Elite Sport recently held in Barcelona and hosted by CAR, San Cugat and the Barca Innovation Hub was a tremendous success. Thanks to the over 300 people from 34 different countries and 65 different Institutes/ Centres who joined us in Spain. The new Ted talk format provided an opportunity to hear from 39 different speakers and to garner multiple perspectives on some key topics. The ASPC is all about sharing, about continuous learning and about elevating high performance sport across the globe. As leaders, we must always be looking outside our organizations – what are others in the performance business doing, what is happening in the business world, the military, other performance environments that may impact our business or that we may learn from. The ASPC is also about developing leaders; people that want to become better and want their Centers/Institutes to become better. Leadership is hard, challenging, heart breaking and inspiring. It is a sacrifice, a joy and a privilege. Leadership is also about helping the people around you to grow. The stakes of leadership are sky high and everyone gets better when leaders get better. With enough humility, we can learn from anyone. As goes the leader, so goes the team. The ASPC network is the best place develop your leadership, to connect, to get answers to questions we may have, to share and learn, and to get better. I look forward to seeing you in Hong Kong.
