Asian Power Couples Baroness Zahida Parveen Manzoor & Madassar Manzoor Baroness Zahida Parveen Manzoor CBE is an English businesswoman and public appointee, who was elevated to the House of Lords in 2013. She served as the Legal Services Ombudsman for England and Wales and has held a number of senior Public Appointments. Zahida was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and moved to England when she was four years old. She became a nurse before attending the University of Leeds (1983) and receiving an MA from the University of Bradford in 1989. She became a Lecturer before moving on to hold a number of senior positions in the NHS and then the regulation of Legal Services. She married Dr Madassar Manzoor in 1984. Jamila & Reginald Massey Jamila Massey is an Indian-born British actress and writer. Jamila has had a long career on UK television and radio. She is possibly best known for playing Auntie Satya in the long-running radio soap The Archers, Jamila Ranjha in Mind Your Language, and Neelam Kapoor in EastEnders and she appeared in Coronation Street in February 2010 as one of Sunita’s aunts. As well as acting, Massey has also co-authored several books with her husband, writer Reginald Massey. Reginald Massey was born in Lahore, then in British India, and now lives in Britain. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of the Society of Authors and an authority on the culture, religion, music and dance of India. He has written for papers such as The Times and The Guardian and has been a critic of The Dancing Times for nearly four decades.
