1,0 0 0 W O R D S Every man has his preferred poison. For me, it is muck diving and macro shooting. Unlike conventional photography, the world of macro photography is one which you can control completely. From the use of coloured lights or focused beam lighting, to the manipulation of direct or diffused lighting, it’s all in the hands of the photographer. The unique charm of muck diving lies in the careful observation of marine organisms. I’ve often been mesmerised by the elegant behaviour or movement of a fascinating critter and missed the shot completely. Over time, I’ve felt compelled to find a way to capture these captivating phenomena in my own signature style. Muck diving is something every seasoned diver ought to try, especially those into macro photography. Careful though, it can be highly addictive! Mantis shrimp TEXT & IMAGE: 6 Ace Wu
