As history would have it, ADEX and Asian Diver magazine started in tandem, but went their separate ways under different management. Asian Diver joined us in 2008, alongside our in-house publication, Scuba Diver AUSTRALASIA. The following year, Asian Diver and ADEX reunited when we took over the reins. With all three premium brands under one roof – Scuba Diver AUSTRALASIA, Asian Diver and ADEX – we founded the underwater3some group in 2010. And so, ever since, underwater3some has been the inspiration and passion behind ADEX. At this year’s show, we’re excited to feature our newly-launched dive magazine Scuba Diver OCEAN PLANET, the official publication of the Hans Hass Fifty Fathoms Award. This multifaceted magazine for divers combines the best of the worlds of underwater photography and videography with the coolest travel and lifestyle content specially aimed at lovers of the ocean. The 20th-anniversary edition of ADEX is going to be huge! We’ll be holding special events celebrating the contributions of female divers – setting a precedent for dive shows in Asia. We’ll be including an awesome film festival as part of the programme – for the first time in the show’s history. As well, for the fifth exciting year, we’ll once again be wowing audiences with our mindblowing tek dive seminars. With our photo/video speakers, conservationists, dive medics and ocean artists, ADEX will be hosting more than 70 amazing speakers representing 35 countries around the world! Think it’s going to be difficult to keep track of everything that’s going on? No problem! This year also sees the launch of the new free ADEX smartphone app. You’ll have access to all the information you need to navigate the show, particularly all the best deals on dive gear, dive trips, dive courses and underwater photo and video equipment. Plus, you’ll be able to use the new ADEX Scan in all our magazines to enjoy bonus photo and video content. I believe every industry needs the media, and this is no different for the dive industry. As a media group, we aim to share, to educate and to showcase the work of the region’s most accomplished divers, conservationists, photographers and filmmakers – all the while, supporting the commercial aspects of the industry and its players, both big and small. For ADEX, we apply the same philosophy. We want to help get the most important conservation messages out there, exhibit the best in underwater art and photography, and revel in the coolest new gear. Ultimately, the goal of events like ADEX is to reflect the diverse content in our magazines, from dive safety to conservation, photography to videography, novice diving to tek diving, and much more in the realms of education and awareness. And needless to say, at ADEX, there’s never any shortage of opportunities to enjoy the full gamut of trade activities. Above all, supporting the scuba-diving community means enlightening and nurturing new divers and protecting our endangered marine life, ensuring that our future together remains bright. With this belief in mind, each year, ADEX is dedicated to a different marine creature. This year, it is bestowed upon the lovable dolphin, a threatened species that is a symbol of the urgent need to end overfishing, habitat destruction and oceanic pollution.
