Being able to venture out to see our liquid planet in person, and meet the animals we share it with, is such a privilege. For many it is also a humbling experience, one that can help us to realise that we are part of a stunning, living tapestry, an interconnected web. This ocean world is inhabited by extraordinary beings that also traverse incredible distances. Exactly how they all do it remains a mystery, though, every day, we are discovering more about the why. And the more we learn, the more extraordinary these creatures are revealed to be, and the more we discover the ways that human activities are impacting their lives and migrations. As you travel through these pages, I hope you will be inspired to join us in the ongoing journey towards a more sustainable world, in which the future of our fellow life forms – and our own – is more secure. Never forget that wherever we go, places will change us, but we will also leave a mark. Let’s let that mark be a positive one. 57 On the cover Dolphins bow-riding on the Underwater360 Expedition to the wild Banda Sea Image © Thomas Koenye Alert Diver From DAN Asia-Pacific www.uw360.asia/SDAA
