Pescador Island:
A Wonder
Underwater
Located in the Southern municipality of Moalboal in
Cebu, Pescador is an uninhabited island almost
entirely made up of limestone. A former fishing site
to the early Cebuanos, the island derived its name
from the Spanish word ‘pescador’ meaning
fisherman.
Today, the island is a protected marine sanctuary
famous for its school number of sardines, as well as
sea turtles, dolphins and the occasional sharks. Its
magnificent house reefs and colorful coral gardens
provide shelter to various species of fishes, mollusks,
crustaceans, and other marine animals-- making the
island a paradise for snorkelling, free diving and
scuba diving.
Dive in and explore the rich underwater haven of
Pescador Island and experience the fascinating
sardine run that will leave you in awe.
