This copy of Asian Beacon ( AB ) you are holding in your hand marks the 48th year of publication . What a privilege to be part of this legacy .
1 . Yes , Asian Beacon is back after an absence of 18 months ! And it will be published four times a year .
2 . At the centre page , you ’ ll find a comic to encourage you to pray for our nation . Malaysia is a great nation and she can be better ! You can pull out this middle section and hang it somewhere visible to be reminded to pray for the nation .
3 . “ Peace in the midst of the storms , where can you find ?!” someone quipped . Yet we can find such a real event in Mark 4:35-41 ( ESV ) where Jesus Calms A Storm : On that day , when evening had come , he said to them , “ Let us go across to the other side .” And leaving the crowd , they took him with them in the boat , just as he was . And other boats were with him . And a great windstorm arose , and the waves were breaking into the boat , so that the boat was already filling . But he was in the stern , asleep on the cushion . And they woke him and said to him , “ Teacher , do you not care that we are perishing ?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea , “ Peace ! Be still !” And the wind ceased , and there was a great calm . He said to them , “ Why are you so afraid ? Have you still no faith ?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another , “ Who then is this , that even the wind and the sea obey him ?”

4 . A great storm of wind came – sudden and unexpected . What do we do ? Keep calm and be cool ? It is not going to be easy . One thing we can do is pray : “ God , help me to remain calm . Help me to cope with my fear . Give me peace to face my situation . In Jesus ’ name I pray , Amen .”
5 . We hope the stories featured here will encourage readers who may be facing some kind of storms in their lives now . If you have tried everything and all have failed , try praying the above prayer . You may find peace even in the midst of storms !
