Mesh networking devices sell by
the tens of millions, but none of the
popular systems from vendors such as
Google, eero and Plume are capable of
using other vendor devices to create a
unified home Wi-Fi network. In May
this year, the Wi-Fi Alliance set out to
change that with EasyMesh — a new
standard that enables interoperability
between mesh access points from dif-
ferent vendors.
And now, the first Wi-Fi certified
EasyMesh device — the ARRIS
VAP4641 wireless extender — is
here. The launch of the VAP4641
represents a big step forward in home
Wi-Fi for two reasons: It simplifies
mesh networking for consumers,
giving them the choice of mixing and
matching different brands of products;
and it enables broadband service
providers to constantly improve the
quality of Wi-Fi through a new level
of visibility and control. EasyMesh devices. This allows service
providers to securely deliver high-
quality Wi-Fi to any location in a
subscriber’s home.
In addition, consumers retain
traditional “wired” levels of service
and quality while enjoying flexibility
in placement and ease of installation.
The VAP4641 accommodates a range
of home layouts and configurations
with its optional wall-plug adapter.
