Ross Video empowers you to choose
the technology that suits your needs
There is an increasingly visible discon-
nect between what broadcast ven-
dors want to sell, and what customers
need to buy, suggests Andrew Tan,
director of sales, APAC, Ross Video.
He illustrates: “Too many vendors
are emphasising all-IP-based work-
flows at present because it suits them,
whereas in truth IP is not always the
right or most appropriate choice for
a customer.
“Ross continues to invest in new
products in the SDI and 12G domains
because we understand that many
customers are looking for accessi-
ble and relatively straightforward
upgrade paths that do not require a
wholesale change of infrastructure or
legacy hardware.”
While highlighting that Ross
Video already offers solutions to
customers who are ready to make
the jump to IP, he reiterates that IP is
not the only way to achieve efficiency.
“We know that many of our custom-
ers in Asia are not yet ready to that
step [to IP] — these customers need
to know that they have other options;
that migrating to IP is not obligatory
and that obsolescence should not be
a concern.”
At booth 4K2-01, Tan invites
visitors to check out solutions such as
the Ultrix-FR5, the latest 5RU version
of Ross Video’s disruptive routing/AV
processing platform. Ultrix-FR5 offers
audio/video routing, clean/quiet
switching on every output, audio
embedding/de-embedding, discrete
audio via MADI I/O, input frame
synchronisers, 4K/Ultra HD (UHD)
gearboxing and up to 24 independ-
ent multiviewers, each capable of
supporting up to 100 PIPs per head,
Living Live is Ross Video’s new tagline, as
Andrew Tan invites visitors to check out the
best live production solutions, including the
company’s “Unified Live Solutions”.
all unified in one chassis.
Other highlights include the
XPression Tessera engine, which
allows users to scale broadcast video
and populate displays and video
walls of any shape or size; Carbon-
ite Mosaic, a compositing tool that
can output a canvas size of over 20
million pixels; the Abekas Mira re-
play server; the AirCleaner profanity
delay system; and the flagship Acuity
production switcher, among others.
These displays are also reinforc-
ing a production philosophy that
Ross Video has championed over the
past 12 months — software defined
production (SDP), which advocates
content creators using whatever
transport method is most appropri-
ate for the specific project at hand.
Jeff Moore, executive vice-pres-
ident and CMO, Ross Video, adds:
“As a framework, SDP is pragmatic
and customer-focused. It allows
customers to migrate towards IP in
stages through software-enabled and
gateway products. It also recognises
that customer have many ongoing
creative, technical and business chal-
lenges that IP cannot solve.
“We dislike the idea of customers
being orphaned or left behind. So, we
want to offer the broadest possible
range of solutions, giving customers
choices, rather than forcing them
down one single path.”
