Riedel offers signal routing and
Supported by several years of R & D , Riedel Communications ’ Bolero wireless intercom system was launched last year , and is now available as a standalone application . Apart from Bolero , Riedel is also presenting the
1200 series SmartPanel at BroadcastAsia2018 booth 4J4-01 .
Cameron O ’ Neill , Director , Asia-Pacific , Riedel Communications , shares more about the new enhancements to these products .
It has been a year since the introduction of Bolero . Can you share with us some success stories of Bolero ? Cameron O ’ Neill : In general , we have had much more success with Bolero than we expected . We knew we had a winning product to begin with , but since its launch , we have thrown it into some challenging situations , and it has exceeded everyone ’ s expectations .
My first example would have to be the Hillsong Conference in Sydney ,

a very large event which used to have lots of issues with wireless comms , but they were able to run 55 Bolero beltpacks without any issues . We have installations in the National Theatre of Japan , the BBC , and a number of other broadcasters in Asia-Pacific .
Bolero has also been used in major sports events this year in Asia and Australia , and also by a few of our rental partners in Japan and Australia . We are putting Bolero on practically every rental job that we do now as well , from one-off concerts to our worldwide motorsports series .
Bolero is also celebrating its first anniversary with a standalone application . What are the reasons behind the decision to introduce the Bolero as a standalone application , and what are the new enhancements integrated in the Bolero standalone application ? O ’ Neill : Having Bolero integrated directly into Riedel ’ s Artist digital matrix intercom system delivers a great deal of flexibility — you can either use the mixing engine of the Artist mainframe to send dozens of ‘ channels ’ to a single beltpack , or as an interruptible fold back ( IFB ) destination . However , sometimes you do not need to have all those features .
