Content remains
key to engaging
with your
audience
While the convergence of broadcast and telecommunications
continues to gain pace, content
remains the key for broadcast TV,
says Tuan Phan Quang, CTO of
Vietnam’s Saigon Tourist Cable
Television (SCTV).
Tuan is leading the SCTV delegation in checking out the latest
products and solutions on offer
at BroadcastAsia2016, although
he believes finding and developing the most appropriate content
remains the key to determining
the success of any TV programme.
Tuan adds: “TV stations must
continually adopt new approaches
in producing content, while taking
into consideration the additional
costs in the production of the programme, the cost of transmisson
and object orientation.
“Of course, technology also
plays a major part in developing
content.”

and 4K/Ultra HD solutions
Stephen Wong (left), SVP sales, Asia-Pacific, Snell Advanced Media
(SAM) and Jacky Yee, sales director, ASEAN, are at booth 5D3-01 to
welcome BroadcastAsia2016 visitors.
SAM is looking to enable Asia’s IP transition by offering solutions
such as its IP-Edge technology, designed to take complexity away
from hybrid and pure IP roll-outs.
Products that are IP-Edge-enabled include routers, switchers, IQ
processing, servers and playout systems.
Also on display is the new Kula switcher range, showcased for the
first time in Asia. Kula is capable of 4K/1080p/HD and SD in 1M/E
and 2M/E versions, and is lining up alongside the Kahuna switcher.
AN SCTV delegation is at BroadcastAsia2016 to discover solutio ns that will help the Vietnamese cable TV operator better
connect with its viewers.
Ultra HD (UHD) and even 8K, Tuan
is looking out for solutions that
could improve transmission capability and enhance bandwidth in
the broadcast environment.
He is also on the lookout for
solutions that offer interactivity
on multiple platforms, as SCTV
looks increasingly to connect to
a discerning younger audience
base, who demand constant information.
He advises: “Innovate or improve the quality of your pro-
gramme sources, beginning from
the production phase. Then, build
a stable, high quality and optimised
transmission environment.
“And lastly, develop the terminal devices and appropriate
services.”
Indonesian buyers ‘looking at everything’
Indonesia is on the move. Broadcasting and
streaming content to various platforms are
steadily increasing, as viewers are demanding
content on their mobile devices.
Scouring the exhibition halls at Marina
Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre is a
delegation of Indonesian buyers headed by
Darmoni Badri, a senior member of the Board of
Profession & Association, The Indonesian ICTs
Society. He said: “We are looking at everything
… the latest innovations or enhancements and
new equipment to enable us to keep up with
changes in the industry.”
Including IP?
“Yes, we’ll also be on the lookout to see
what’s new in IP technology,” he smiled, before
hurrying off to attend the Official Opening
Ceremony yesterday.
