Miller Camera Support
unveils Skyline 90,
arrow Fx at BCA2017
Miller Camera Support, a
manufacturer of camera support
solutions, is debuting the
Skyline 90 fluid head in Asia at
BroadcastAsia2017.
Featuring payload support of
up to 75kg (165 lb), the Skyline 90
is designed to meet the rigorous
standards presented by challenging
environments and conditions of
outside broadcasting (OB).
The Skyline 90 is equipped
with continuous counterbalance
control that ranges from zero to
75kg at 30cm above the centre-
tilt axis, and 15+0 selectable fluid
pan-tilt drag positions to ensure
the optimum drag for any lens
focal length. With a sliding platform
featuring 300mm of sliding range,
the Skyline 90 balances heavy
camera loads, allowing operators
to glide “effortlessly” with a full
camera payload.
In addition, the Skyline 90
features floating pan-tilt calliper
locks with large metal levers that
allow operators to operate with
one hand without causing picture
disturbance. Two bubble levels
are also located at either side of
the head to allow for convenient
levelling. Furthermore, it comes
with an automatic safety lock
to ensure a “secure” horizontal
position when loading or
dismantling heavy box lenses.
“The Skyline 90 is the ideal
choice for OB operators, assured
by Miller’s engineering and design
known for its reliability and
endurance,” says Charles Montesin,
global sales and marketing
manager, Miller Camera Support.
“The Skyline 90 is the result
of technological innovations
gained from years of experience
in the design and construction
of fluid heads. As Miller remains
committed to the OB market
by supplying fluid heads that
achieve its signature ‘right feel’, the
company will strive to continue
to bring the best products. For
further peace of mind, the Skyline
90 comes with a full three-year
factory warranty.”
Miller Camera Support is
displaying the Skyline 90 at booth
4K3-05 with an OB camera and
large box lens to demonstrate its
capabilities in OB set-ups.
Alongside the Skyline 90, Miller
will also be unveiling the arrow Fx
fluid heads, which is an extension
of Miller’s arrow x line of fluid heads.
Comprising arrow Fx 3, arrow Fx 5
and arrow Fx 7, the arrow Fx fluid
heads provide solutions for HD
and live TV productions where
augmented reality (AR)
effects and graphics are
inserted into the picture.
The arrow Fx series
features high-resolution
magnetic encoders
integrated into the fluid
head. These encoders allow
the arrow Fx to monitor and
communicate the exact
position of the fluid head
with zero latency, according
to Miller, while delivering high-
Miller’s arrow Fx 7 fluid head features
an Augmented Reality Interface
(ARI) box, which interfaces between
the arrow Fx 7 fluid head and graphics
engines, such as Vizrt and Orad, among
others, to provide pan, tilt, zoom and
focus data, as well as lens geometry
information to create life-like precision
augmented productions.

Montesin adds: “In today’s
world, we must evolve our
product offerings to adhere to
the latest production trends,
including adapting to AR effects
in real time. The arrow Fx range
allows our customers to achieve
higher quality, more realistic and
attractive digital effects.”
The arrow Fx series features
a pan resolution of 1,589,248
counts per 360 degrees, and a
tilt resolution of 491,520 counts
per 180 degrees. Equipped with
Miller’s sequential counterbalance
design CB Plus, the arrow Fx
series can be implemented for
broadcast applications that require
