Drink driving in Pattaya has had a hard and often stern approach to it recently, and things look to stay this way for the near future. Many people have been moaning about the sudden increase in checkpoints and the attitude of the officers and military in dealing with the matter, but in fairness isn’t Thailand simply clearing up an issue that is a strict NO-GO in nearly every other Country in the world? Try having a skinful and driving home in England, Canada or the USA. You get stopped there and you are in a world of trouble! So why is it that Thailand is on the backlash of complaints that they have decided to bring this problem to a head? Is this a flash in the pan and will all this attention disappear, I think not, it looks like this is a subject that will remain at the forefront of both the police and military for a good while to come! So, come on, let’s be fair, a taxi pretty much anywhere in Pattaya is less than a 100 Baht, the Baht Bus costs just 10 baht a pop and there are numerous Taxis available, so do you really need to drink drive in Pattaya or anywhere else for that matter? Stay safe, use a taxi and stay out of trouble, it really is as simple as that!
