Resident of the Month,
Donna Johnson
Donna Johnson was born June
28,1933, to parents Willa and Ray Root
of Bolivar, Mo. Donna was an only child.
Donna attended Royal Grade School and
later Bolivar High School for two years .
Donna married Charles “Bob” John-
son on July 15, 1950 . “We ran off down
to Arkansas with his cousin and my best
friend Dixie. We told them I was 19 (I
was 17) so we could get our marriage
license,” said Donna. After getting mar-
ried the couple lived with Bob’s parents
in Bolivar until they were established and
could move to their own home. Together
the couple had one girl, Pamela Tate, and
two granddaughters Maria Kaufman and
Stephanie Frieze. Donna and Bob cele-
brated 64 years of marriage until his
death in 2015. She still stays in contact
with her best friend Dixie. They have
been besties since they were nine years
old!
Donna attended the Missionary Bap-
tist Church where she helped out with the
church activities and singing. Donna was
a loving homemaker and mother. The
family enjoyed traveling to Oklahoma.
She loves to listen to the country music
singers and as a hobby she collected 26
shot glasses as souvenirs along her trav-
els. Donna is always ready to go and
participate in the AGHCF group activi-
ties. She enjoys ball point fabric painting
and drawing scenery pictures. We wel-
come her as a newcomer at the Golden
Age Games this year in Bolivar and wish
her well in competition!
Donna’s favorites are the red rose, the
color red, and look out fried potatoes!
Donna went to Graceland and got to see
the pink Cadillac that Elvis gave his Ma-
ma. She remarked about his music room
having black walls and white piano and
white carpeting! Donna’s motto is
“Always tell the truth.” Congratulations,
Donna, for being chosen as AGHCF’s
October Resident of the Month!
