Resident of the Month,
Wilford “Gene” Taylor
Wilford “Gene” Taylor and his twin
sister, Wanda Irene, were born on March 14,
1920, to David and Ada Taylor of Seymour,
Mo. Growing up he had two sisters and
one brother. Gene attended school at Seymour high school. In 1939, he graduated
and was the valedictorian of his class. After
graduation, he attended and graduated
from SMS.
During World War II, he returned to
the Seymour high school where he taught
and coached basketball and baseball.
In 1958, Gene started his career working
for the National Weather Service. From
1958 until 1980, he was the announcer for
NOAA Weather radio for severe weather
watches.
On Dec. 16, 1939, Gene and Daisy
Webster were married in a small and secret
ceremony and moved to Springfield, Mo.
Together the couple was blessed with four
children, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grand
children and five great-great grandchildren.
Unfortunately, in October of 1993,
Daisy passed away. Gene met, and eventually
married Dortha Webster in 1994. Sadly she
passed in 2006.

Employee
of the Month
John Goddard was chosen as
AGHCF’s April Employee of
the Month. The Employee of
the Month for May has yet to be
determine. The individual who is
selected will be featured in the
June edition of the Rocking
Chair News.

Gene is a active member Ashbury
United Method. He enjoys his two black
poodles, gardening, St. Louis Cardinal
baseball, spending time outdoors and
various Branson shows.

Congratulations Gene for being
chosen as AGHCF’s April Resident of
the Month for May!
