Kay has one sister, Helen Myers, of Springfield, Missouri. Kay attended Greenfield Schools. She met Russell Decker at school and they courted for 2 years before they mar- ried on Dec 17, 1952. Together the couple had a family of four Children; Mark who lived until 1955, Lana Farmer of Willard, Missouri, Debbie Wallen of Greenfield, and Todd Decker of Neosho, Missouri. They have six grand chil- dren and 12 great-grandchildren. They made their home in Arcola, Missouri on a large farm where they raised cattle. Kay and Russel celebrated 60 years of marriage before Russel passed away. Kay is a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Greenfield where she sang in the choir and taught the primary classes. Kay worked for the Arcola Post Of- fice for 10 years. She was a C.N.A. and cook at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood for seven years. She also ran the grocery store and Dairy Queen in Arcola. Kay has a wide variety of hobbies. She belongs to the Quilters Club and WPFA (Women’s Progressive Farmers Association of Missouri). Kay likes cats, flower and veg- etable gardening, quilting and embroidering. Kay enjoys listening to gospel, country, bluegrass and easy listening music. Her favorite games include rook and bingo. Kay and Russel also enjoyed traveling. She says that one of their favorite destinations was Canada and that Niagara Falls is especially beautiful. Kay’s motto /advice for today is that, “Everyone needs to be a good Christian and think of others before yourself.” Lana relates that, “Mom always loved cooking and is one of the best cooks in the world. She always showed her love for her family in the kitchen.” Congratulations, Kay, for being selected the 2020 Queen of Hearts! We wish you well in upcoming events . Employee of the Month Daphne Wilkins, Charge Nurse, was chosen as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility’s Employee of the Month for February. The Employee of the Month for March has yet to be deter- mined.
