Resident of the Month , Lois Gray

Lois Gray was born Nov . 11 , 1928 , in Tuttle , Okla ., to parents Albert and Mable Lawrence . Lois ’ dad was her stepfather as her last name was Swaney . Lois had three siblings , two brothers , Van , who was an Army veteran serving in Pearl Harbor , and Leland , who served as an Army Captain in the invasion of Normandy . He was a prisoner of war in Germany during WWII . Lois ’ s sister is Alma Lee Blake .
Lois graduated from Brady Texas High School when she was 16 years old and started work for Western Union as a tele typist . She worked all over in the Southwest . Lois married J . B . Gray on Aug . 27 , 1946 . The couple has two children , Carolyn Heavin and Dwayne Gray , five grandchildren , and 10 great grandchildren . The Grays celebrated 56 years together . J . B . passed away in 2002 .
Lois was a member of the Kansas Ex-
pressway Church of Christ in Springfield . She enjoys playing bingo , checkers , Canasta and word puzzles . She also likes to crochet , making the large table doilies and more exquisite works of crochet .
Lois enjoys going fishing , going out to eat and having family birthday and holidays parties . Her favorite music is gospel and country western . She also likes cats and has a yellow tabby cat named Pumpkin . Lois is an avid reader , and artist - she has painted 100 oil paintings that she has given to her friends . She likes painting rural scenes , cattle , barns , and nature . We would like to host an art show this summer at Ash Grove Healthcare Facility to feature some of her paintings .
“ Mother was always the first to assist her family . She never waivered in her encouragement of me in spiritual and financial strength for the hard times of life ,” says Lois ’ son , Dwayne .

Employee of the Month

Lexi Cooper , CNA , was chosen as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility ’ s Employee of the Month for February . The Employee of the Month for March has yet to be determine . The individual who is selected will be featured in the April edition of the Rocking Chair News .
